Toondoo is a website that allows users to create cartoon comic strips. There is really no limitations on the content for the comics. I made and used a strip for my recent article on teacher burnout.
Toondoo is easy to use and can be a fun and different way to teach your class (differentiated instruction). The best part about it is IT'S FREE! Instead of trying to describe the awkward relationship between English settelers and the Native Americans make it a comic.Using this tool effectively can be a big hit in your classroom. It could be used with any age preschool or seniors in high school.
TIPS TO CONSIDER:
- Think about your panels
- Make it simple
- Make it easy to understand
- Specify your reason for the comic (comical, informative)
- Make it fun (after all it is a comic)
Another way to use this in the classroom is to let the students use it. Wow! Your covering so many topics in education with that assignment. Media and Technology Integration, Collaborative Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and using alternative assesments. This kind of assignment will allow your students to be creative and they will actually enjoy doing their homework.
