Socrative

This is another addition to Technology Thursday. On Thursdays we will be highlighting a different online technology that Teachers can put to use in the classroom. You can find more articles on the Technology page.

Socrative is the best way to have an online class assesment that gives teachers instant feedback.

In socrative teachers are able to make quizzes, tests, or questions that supplement your lesson or really anything that you want to track student participation and proficency.

Just imagine being able to see instantly what information your students got and what passed over them. This is so helpful when you are reviewing!!!

Try this for your next chapter test review, let your students work independently on the review and then go over the review as a class using Socrative. The areas that your students are having trouble in just cover them right then.

When you see a majority of students get a question incorrect, recover or reteach that information right then. I promise that this will increase student performance.

Use Socrative as a diagnostic assessment. Knowing what your students know (and what they do not know) can help teachers to fine tune lessons to target problem areas within your content.

How Socrative Works:

All you have to do is sign up for an account and you will be given a url. Then you just begin making lesson that include the use of socrative.

Response Options:

  1. Smartphone
  2. Ipad or any other tablet
  3. Laptop
  4. Desktop Computer
If your students do not have access to a tablet or smartphone do not sweat it, just book the school computer lab and conduct your lesson from there! This web tool is way to cool to for you not to use it.

Oh yeah by the way its free.
