This is a feature at TA, that shares TED talks that can help you be a better educator. These posts will be archived on the Philosophy page. The general focus is Education but are not limited to that. They can include other things as well.
In this TED talk we will look at Sarah Kay, who is an accomplished storyteller and poet. She is discussing the time when she realized that she would not live forever. She realized she only had one life to live and that she would not be able to do everything that she desires. Filled with vivid description she explains how she dealt with this issue.
Application: Sarah reminds us that time is a limited commodity. We will not be able to teach our students everything. We will not be able to study everything. Teachers must be selective in what takes place in our classrooms and also our lives. We will not be able to produce quality in every area of our job if we over extend ourselves trying to be everything Take this into consideration when you are signing up for committees and teams.
